Ewa Harr Entrepreneur Profile

Posted by CIC Admin in Entrepreneur Profile on June 22, 2017

Ewa Harr performed her undergraduate studies at the College of William and Mary before moving across the country to do her graduate work at the California Institute of Integral Studies. After this, she worked as a therapeutic playroom coordinator and earned her Marriage and Family Therapist license in California. Ewa has been living in Charlottesville since 2012 and is the mother of two boys, ages nine and four.

Ewa now runs her own two businesses, ASAP Sitters and Little Planets. Little Planets provides eco-friendly young children’s play spaces & baby care areas at festivals and live events. She got the idea for Little Planets while at a Block Party for the Tom Tom Founder’s Festival in 2015. At this event, there were lots of fun, interesting options for the adults, but not a lot for the children to do. Ewa realized that she wanted to create kids’ play areas at festivals and events. Her first engagement at the Vintage Virginia Wine and Food Festival was so successful, she was asked to do the same thing at FloydFest. Little Planets has continued to grow ever since, participating in many local events such as Tom Tom, and other Virginia music festivals like Red Wing Roots and The Festy Experience.

Ewa opened a more permanent playspace in March 2017 in order to provide Charlottesville with a nature-inspired playroom that values the importance of open-ended, creative, and imaginative play.  After learning what is necessary to meets the needs of local families, Ewa is planning to move the playroom to IX Art Park. A playroom in this location will have outdoor access as well as on-site childcare for IX Art Park patrons.

After graduating from CIC’s Entrepreneur Workshop in January 2017, Ewa has said that the training touched on all of the points of running a business that entrepreneurs need to know about. She feels that it would have be difficult to manage at this level on her own, and that CIC has been an amazing resource. “The entrepreneur workshop was like an MBA bootcamp. I’m so grateful for the connections and the support that CIC has provided.”
